About

Built by designers who got tired of trend-watching newsletters that don't open the inspector.

Most design newsletters round up screenshots and call it a day. WebTrends opens the inspector, reads the source, and writes about what the team actually did: type system, animation pattern, layout grid, the parts you can steal. One issue every Sunday: short teardowns on five-to-seven notable launches, one craft pattern of the week, one link roundup. No filler issues.

Frequently asked

What's a 'site teardown'?

1500-ish words on a single recently-shipped site or app. Screenshots, a breakdown of what's working (typography, motion, IA, the small craft choices), what isn't, and 2–3 patterns you can lift into your own work. Not reviews. Not roasts. Closer to design crits with a working hypothesis.

How is this different from Brand New / Sidebar / Designer News?

Brand New covers identity work. Sidebar curates links. Designer News is a feed. We're long-form on shipped product UI specifically: the kind of work designers do day-to-day but rarely see other people's process on.

Who writes it?

Editorial is by working designers who've shipped at small teams and large ones. We don't post bylines mid-iteration. Once cadence is locked, full author bios go up. Until then, attribute everything to WebTrends Editorial.

Will there be a paid tier?

Eventually. Premium teardowns + interviews + a private Slack are the usual shape. We're not gating anything during the build phase. Get on the list now and you'll be there when the cadence is real.

Cadence?

One issue every Sunday. Each issue: 5–7 short teardowns on the week's notable launches, one deep-dive on a craft pattern, one link roundup. Holidays we skip; we don't ship filler issues to keep a streak.
